寫人物是否要用過去式不僅是時態的問題，還涉及到你想要寫的人物的各項具體因素與什麼有關以及具體的語境。
舉個例子，當描寫歷史人物的狀態作為基本事實時，那就用現在時就行了，此外，人物的外貌一定要用過去時，至於年齡，愛好，穿著等需要視情況而定。例如一個人過去的年齡和現在的年齡，過去的穿著和他一直喜愛的穿著，過去的愛好和他一直堅持到現在的愛好，都是一個用過去式，一個用現在時。
此外，語境的不同也會導致時態的不同在過去的人說的話中，關於人物的描寫就劃分得非常細緻，可能三種時態都可能涉及。加入感**彩也會導致時態不同。比如“我奶奶雖然走了但她永遠在我心中活著”之類的就更煩了，所以一定要謹慎。
總的來說基本規律就是人物過去的狀態是過去式，過去的人現在的狀態或基本的真理使用現在時。
備註：做題時最有效的辨別方法還是列一個時間表來確定時間的發生順序較為合理。
