一、年份
關於四位數年份的讀法有下列幾種情形：
1、一般情況下，將表示年份的四個數字按前後分為兩組，每一組的數字都按基數詞來讀。例如：
2023年讀作 eighteen sixty-five
2023年讀作 nineteen ninety-eight
2、如果前兩個數字為非“零”數字，後兩位數分別為“零”，則先讀出前兩位數，然後將後面的兩個“零”讀為 hundred。例如：
2023年讀作 nineteen hundred
2023年讀作 eighteen hundred
3、第三個數字為“零”（其他數字不是“零”）的年份的讀法應當將該“零”讀為o［u］。例如：2023年讀作 eighteen o nine
4、關於千年的一些讀法。
2023年讀作 two thousand
2023年讀作 two thousand and eight（或twenty o eight）
2023年讀作 one thousand and eight（或ten o eight）
另外，還有一些非四位數的年份，它們有兩種讀法：一種是按照基數詞的方法來讀，另一種是一個一個數字來讀。例如：
531bc讀作 five three one bc（或five hundred and thirty-one bc）
since the “1950s” 譯作：在20世紀50“年代”之後
二、時間
1、可以直接按照表示時間的數字來讀。例如：
10：56讀作 ten fifty six
8：30讀作 eight thirty
2、正點後的前半小時，通常說幾點“過”（past）幾分。例如：
9：25讀作 twenty-five past nine
2：16讀作 sixteen past two
10：55讀作 five to eleven
8：40讀作 twenty to nine
4、英語中的15分鐘也可以說成“一刻鐘”（a quarter）。例如：
4：15讀作 a quarter past four
7：45讀作 a quarter to eight
45分鐘讀作 three quarters
5、鐘點的讀法
鐘點的讀法分英式和美式兩種，我們應對此加以注意。以下是英式的表達方法：
7：00讀作：seveno’clock a．m．／p．m．
8：15 讀作：a quarter past eight／eight fifteen
9：30 讀作：half past nine／nine thirty
9：45讀作：a quarter to ten／nine forty-five
10：03讀作：three(minutes)pastten／ten ohthree
